Homemade Hot Pepper Cream for Arthritis & Joint Pain

The active constituent in hot peppers that gives them their heat is called capsaicin, which can be used in a pepper cream for arthritis. The hotter the pepper, the higher the level of capsaicin content.

While patting something that seems blazing hot onto your sore joints doesn’t initially seem like it would help arthritis, capsaicin cream is commonly sold as an OTC reliever.

This is because Capsaicin reduces a neurotransmitter signal called substance P, which is responsible for sending pain signals to our brain. If we block this signal, we never get the message that something is hurting, and therefore end up pain-free.

Rubbing OTC creams multiple times a day can get expensive if you’re using store-bought creams.  Homemade capsaicin cream is simple to make and effective.

It allows you to adjust the strength of the cream to your own likings and also offers great peace of mind to know exactly what your skin is absorbing and it’s rewarding making it yourself.

4 cups of grapeseed or another oil, like almond, jojoba, or olive
    Gloves.

Rub on as needed for pain, stop use if you notice any irritation.

Little Bit Extra Cream Recipe

This cream includes the other well-known anti-inflammatory’s and pain reducer turmeric, ginger, and cayenne.

You will need:

  • 3 cups of grapeseed oil, or almond, jojoba, or olive
  • 3 tablespoons of ground cayenne and a half cup of beeswax
  • 3 tablespoons of turmeric and 2 tablespoons of ground ginger
  • A double boiler

Procedures

Blend together 3 tablespoons of ground cayenne, 3 tablespoons of turmeric, and 2 tablespoons of ground ginger. Add this to 3 cups of grapeseed oil in a double boiler and mix until blended thoroughly.

Warm over medium heat for 5-10 minutes and then put in a half cup of beeswax. Mix until the beeswax has melted completely and everything is mixed together, and then remove from heat and cool in the refrigerator for 10 minutes.

After 10 minutes take it out and whisk it together and then put back in the fridge for another 10 minutes, mixing it once more at the end. Put in a glass jar with a tightly fitting cap in the refrigerator, where it will keep for 11 days.

Apply as required for the pain, but with this cream, rub in as much as you can and allow it dry before washing off.

Remember to wear gloves when handling super spicy stuff (like the habanero) and stop usage if it causes much skin irritation.

When you use the cream, really take the time to gently rub it into each painful joint.

The little bit of stimulation helps really get your circulation pumping and move blood through your joints. This gets much-wanted oxygen and nutrients to them, which is particularly good for osteoarthritis.
