Homemade Honey Heel Moisturizer for Dry and Cracked Heels

When the skin on and around the heels becomes thickened, rough or dried out, it leads to cracking, hence, the need for a moisturizer for dry and cracked heels.

These cracks can range from small to extreme and can be caused by anything from increased pressure or weight and ill-fitting shoes, to dry climate and fungal diseases like athletes foot.

Required ingredients:

  • Milk
  • Honey, and
  • Orange juice.

Honey is a humectant, which simply means that honey traps and seals moisture, making it best to apply to dry or cracked heels.

Place it on the affected foot and it essentially sucks moisture into it, helping to relieve the dryness and heal the cracks. It also helps fight off bacteria, which is an added benefit.


Milk, rich in vitamin A is essential for healthy skin, as it helps to repair and rebuild the skin texture. It also helps to thin out the honey and allow for better application to the skin.

Orange juice

Oranges have been high in Vitamin C stimulates the production of collagen, which is chiefly the substance that gives skin its elasticity and suppleness.

As we age our collagen reduces, which is why we get wrinkles. Applying vitamin C topically will help your skin hold the flexibility that makes it possible to put pressure on it without it splitting or cracking.

You will need a cup of organic honey(slightly warmed), 1-2 tablespoons of milk, (preferably whole), The juice of 1 whole orange and foot file or pumice stone (optional)


Warm the honey a little to make it easier to spread on. Mix in 2 tablespoons of milk (warming the milk helps as well) and the juice of an orange.

Use a pumice stone or foot file to slough off some of the rough skin before applying a layer of the mixture evenly onto your heels, massaging as you go to help it soak in.

You don’t need a super thick, sticky layer, but it should still be able to cover all the dry parts thoroughly. Leave it on for 45 minutes, rinse with warm water and dry thoroughly.

Do this two times a day. If you like, you can apply this before sleeping and let it dry and then leave it on overnight.

Dry skin isn’t amusing for anybody, but it poses a unique sort of issue when it’s on the feet that carry you around all day. Not only can the sight be worrisome to some people, dry/cracking heels are uncomfortable and sometimes downright painful.

If you find fancy foot creams aren’t doing the job, or you don’t want to use them all together, this homemade mixture can go a long way in doing the work.
