DIY Silky, Fluffy, Chemical-Free Shaving Cream

By  David

The combination of chemicals present in conventional shaving creams can cause terrible skin irritation. The Phalates, parabens, colorants, preservatives, and fragrances used in regular shaving creams can even raise the risk of contracting skin cancer in the long run.

For this very reason a lot people are opting for shaving creams prepared from natural ingredients.

It is quite simple to prepare one hundred percent natural shaving creams. Natural shaving creams are prepared by using ingredients which are actually vital for the skin.

Chemical free shaving creams prepared by using natural ingredients can give you the closest, most comfortable shave.

Homemade Shaving Cream

Elusive as making shaving cream may seem, making your own blend of simple ingredients can result in your very own and it’s free from any chemicals, preservatives or most strange perfumes and dyes added to cream sold in stores.

Prepare this homemade cream and you won’t be tempted to buy store-bought shaving cream again.

Requirements

You will need:

  • 2/3 cup shea nut oil or shea butter,
  • 2/3 coconut oil,
  • 1/4 cup olive oil or grapeseed oil and
  • 10-20 drops of your favorite essential oils/oil blend
  • 2 tablespoons of baking soda and
  • contents of 2 vitamin E capsules (optional)

Procedures

Dissolve 2/3 cup of coconut oil and shea nut oil together in a heater. Turn off the heat and stir in 1/4 cup of olive oil or grapeseed oil.

When melted, put in 10-20 drops of your favorite essential oil (chamomile-lavender for example.)

Put it into a container or leave it in the bowl (if you were using a double boiler.) Give it a good mix, and then set it in the fridge to harden. Once it has solidified, remove and allow it soften slightly.

Add contents of 2 vitamin E capsules (that’s if you’re using them) and 2 tablespoons of baking soda to an electric stand mixer (or use an electric hand beater, or a lot of elbow grease). Beat until its super light and fluffy and looks like you could spread it on a cupcake.

Apply generously to wherever you’re shaving and wash off when done.

You can omit the baking soda and, if you want it scent-free, the essential oil as well. Save in a cool dark area when not in use, it can keep up to a month.

By making your own home-produced shaving cream you can be satisfied knowing that you’re reaping the benefits of something you produced yourself and completely free of chemicals.
